Welcome...

by John McGanty

73 south, exit at MacArthur Blvd., 3 miles to light for PCH, turn right (heading south) and go 4 miles, turn left at sign for El Moro Canyon and turn marked School/State Park.  Go up 1/4 mile to the parking lot.  No Dogs Trail/No Name Ridge Trail trailhead is at the far (east) end of the parking lot.  The El Moro Canyon trailhead is a little bit before the parking lot on the way in on the right hand side.

The El Moro Cyn. trail is a slow steady climb that everyone will be able to handle.  Fairly pretty canyon hike.  Returning by the No Dogs trail will be pleasant, as it provides good ocean views.  The ridge to the south of El Moro Cyn. is rather steep and goes high; may be too hard.

From the El Moro Cyn trailhead, the mileage is as follows:

El Moro Canyon 0.4 miles

Cut Across Trails 1.4

Lower El Moro Camp 3.1

El Moro Cyn. hike described in both books
